Riches Of God’s Grace329because, like wood, hay and stubble, they are susceptible to fireand will burn totally and completely (I Corinthians 3:13-15). Thatis why Jesus said, “…if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out,and cast it from thee…” [He went on to say] “…if thy right hand[work] offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee…” (Matthew5:29-30). Why is this? Jesus answers, “…for it is profitable forthee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thywhole body should be cast into hell [Gehenna]” (Matthew 5:30).Could it be any plainer? But there is more. Paul makes it very clear and states, “…if anyman’s work [teaching] shall be burned [Lake of Fire], he shallsuffer loss [torment] but he himself shall be saved, yet so asby fire” (I Corinthians 3:15). It cannot be made any clearer. Thewicked, obviously, do not burn forever in torment, nor are theytotally destroyed. This is because Paul states that the wicked shallalso be saved.Lake Of Fire PurifiesHebrews 12 is God’s “correction chapter,” especially concerningthose who will be thrown into The Lake of Fire. Read each versevery carefully. Don’t skip over any precious truth contained inHebrews 12.After Paul finished the faith chapter (Hebrews 11), he admonishedyou not to miss out on salvation - after having read aboutthe many holy men and women of old who remained faithfuluntil they died (Hebrews 12:1). The evidence is overwhelming. He went on to say in Verse 4 that none of you had suffered thatmuch in comparison with those people. He compared their lightaffliction with those who had remained faithful all the way to theshedding of their blood when some were martyred.
