These stripes reallywere deserved by all mankind and not Jesus. Christ was withoutsin. He was totally innocent and defenseless.By Jesus allowing Himself to be beaten, He took mankind’s penaltyupon Himself. In what sense are these stripes capable ofhealing you? They were intended for everyone and instead, wereaccepted by your Savior. For the answer The Scripture states,“…and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).Whose Trial?The biblical account of the trial and crucifixion of Christ holdsmany spiritual truths. “Everyone” is called to learn these greattruths. In the movie “The Passion,” it showed that Jesus died onthe cross in order to pay for your sins. But, why did God requireChrist to die as payment for the sins of mankind? That is a vitalquestion. Before Jesus was taken, He prayed and said, “Father,glorify thy name.” In response, “Then came there a voicefrom heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorifyit again” (John 12:28).Remember that the word “glorify” in Greek is “doxa,” meaning“all of God’s goodness and riches.” By God allowing His Son todie for you, it revealed all of God’s goodness for you. This is Thesalvation of mankind. God sent The Son to be The Savior of TheWorld. This was God’s goodness toward mankind (I John 4:14).It was also God’s “glory.” Christ came to save the world.
