Interpretation: A positive result indicates that the patient has used the drugs detected in the recent
past. See individual tests (eg, AMPHU/8257 Amphetamines, Urine) for more information. For
Drug Abuse Survey with Confirmation, Evaluation 2, Urine
Clinical Information: This assay was designed to test for and confirm by gas chromatography-mass
spectrometry (GC-MS) the selected classes of drugs of abuse. This assay uses the screening technique
described under IDOAU/8248 Drug Abuse Survey, Urine, which involves immunologic testing for drugs
by class. All positive screening results are confirmed by GC-MS, and quantitated, before a positive result
is reported. This assay represents the coupling of IDOAU/8248 Drug Abuse Survey, Urine with an
automatic confirmation of all positive results by the definitive assay available and described elsewhere
(eg, AMPHU/8257 Amphetamines, Urine).
Useful For: Detecting drug abuse involving amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, methadone, opiates,
phencyclidine, and propoxyphene. This test is intended to be used in a setting where the test results can be
used definitively to make a diagnosis.
Interpretation: A positive result indicates that the patient has used the drugs detected in the recent
past. See individual tests (eg, AMPHU/8257 Amphetamines, Urine) for more information. For
information about drug testing, including estimated detection times, see Drugs of Abuse Testing at
