Professional Recognition<br />

This degree meets the educational requirements for registration and licensing by the Surveyors Board of<br />

Queensland and also satisfies the academic requirements for admission as a member of both the Institution<br />

of Surveyors (Australia) and the Mapping Sciences Institute, Australia.<br />

Special Course Requirements<br />

Students must obtain at least 90 days industrial employment in a surveying/mapping environment approved<br />

by the Course Coordinator.<br />

Students, must not later than the fourth week of the semester immediately following each period of industrial<br />

employment, submit to the Course Coordinator a report or diary in the required format, describing the<br />

work carried out during the period of industrial employment and including an Industrial Experience Record<br />

Form signed by the employer. Industrial Experience Record Forms are available from the School of Planning,<br />

Landscape Architecture, and Surveying Office or from outside the Faculty Office, Room 1006, ITE Building,<br />

Gardens Point campus. Should employment exceed the minimum required, it is strongly recommended<br />

that these details also be recorded in the report or diaries and certified by the employer as a record of<br />

experience which may be used when seeking registration or licensing by the Surveyors Board. Students<br />

should not formally enrol in industrial employment.<br />

Students are required: (a) to attend compulsory field practicals off-campus in the Moreton region, and (b)<br />

to have access to an advanced scientific calculator for use during the course.<br />

Specialisations<br />

There are two specialisations built into the course – Surveying and Mapping. Most units are common to<br />
