Analysis of the director’s role in production management including<br />

■ AAB307 WRITING FOR PERFORMANCE<br />

Approaches to the creative process of writing text for drama.<br />

The principal standpoint adopted is that of the writer but there<br />

is a secondary focus on script development from the point of<br />

view of the dramaturg. Both roles are considered in the working<br />

environment of Australian writers of drama. Most of the<br />

writing generated by students will be for the stage; but those<br />

who can demonstrate background in other media may be permitted<br />

to apply the principles and skills of dramatic writing in<br />

that context.<br />

of techniques, materials and resources to bring ideas<br />

to fruition.<br />

■ AAB447 DRAWING<br />

Examination of established systems of drawing by historical<br />

reference and exploration of materials; methods by which<br />

shape and volume can be determined by drawing techniques;<br />

the line as a means of expression and communication; methods<br />

and techniques for creating solid form by the use of various<br />

media; perspective; rendering; perceptual organisation and<br />

expressive effects; use of drawing for teachers who require<br />

visual expression and delineation within their areas.<br />

■ AAB449 EDUCATIONAL DRAMA<br />

Not offered in <strong>1997</strong>. Practical introduction to educational<br />

drama techniques: teacher-in-role, enrolment of students, dramatic<br />

exercises, analogies, simulations; fieldwork project;<br />

planning, teaching and evaluating a simple program. Incompatible<br />

with tertiary studies in drama or substantial experience<br />

in teaching drama.<br />

■ AAB455 COMPUTER GRAPHICS<br />

An introduction to 2D and 3D image generation, manipulation<br />

and output through the critical study of systems, software,<br />

procedures and applications. Students develop a core<br />

understanding of the current characteristics and potentialities<br />

embedded in the technology.<br />

■ AAB457 SCULPTURE<br />

Students will be expected to observe, question and explore<br />

issues to reach solutions that will reflect an individual imagination.<br />

■ AAB601 MUSICIANSHIP 1<br />

Reading skills acquired by the study of material in a variety<br />

of harmonic contexts. Keyboard skills: extension of existing<br />

skills by application of scales, intervals, chord formation in<br />

sight reading, accompanying and improvisation at the keyboard<br />

(year-long unit).<br />

■ AAB602 MUSICIANSHIP 2<br />

Continuation of AAB601 with emphasis on developing a<br />
