SCIENCE STUDIES (X/Y)<br />

Minor 72 credit points – to comprise one 12 credit points unit in each of the areas of Physics, Chemistry,<br />

Biology, Earth Science, Astronomy and Science and Society<br />

Major 96 credit points – as for the minor with the remaining 24 credit points in advanced Science units<br />

Extended Major 120 credit points – as for the major with the remaining 24 credit points in advanced Science units<br />

In selecting units, students should seek the advice of the Science Studies Teaching Area Coordinator.<br />

SOCIAL SCIENCE (X)<br />

Minor 72 credit points – consisting of 24 credit points in each of the areas of Australian Studies, Political<br />

Studies and 12 credit points from each of the areas of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Culture Studies and<br />

Women’s Studies and 12 credit points chosen in consultation with the Social Science Teaching Area<br />

Bachelor of Teaching External Child Care Upgrading Program<br />

(ED42)<br />

This course is being phased out over the next year, and there will be no further intakes.<br />

Location: Kelvin Grove campus<br />

Course Duration: 2.5 years external<br />

Special Requirements<br />

Applicants for the external upgrading program (equivalent to 18 months of full-time study) are required<br />

to have had experience in an early childhood care and education service of at least the equivalent of one<br />

year of full-time employment; and successful completion of the Associate Diploma in Child Care (BCAE)<br />

or Associate Diploma of Education (TAFE) or a relevant qualification in child care, education, health or<br />

social work equivalent to at least two years’ full-time study at tertiary level.<br />
