and their interpretation; breach of contract; major provisions<br />

in Australian standard forms of building contract.<br />

■ CNB442 VALUATION & DILAPIDATIONS<br />

Nature of value; effect of supply and demand of land and buildings;<br />

investment value and occupational value; types of landed<br />

property, incidents of their tenure, outgoings and comparison<br />

with other forms of investment; rates of interest required from<br />

different types of property; calculating rental value and net income<br />

and capitalisation of net income; use of valuation tables;<br />

liability for dilapidations; legal and equitable waste; implied,<br />

express contract covenants and statutory obligations to repair<br />

between landlord and tenant; landlords’ remedies for breach of<br />

covenant to repair; liability for injuries to third parties.<br />

regulatory requirements, approximate traffic calculations;<br />

escalators and moving walks, use, widths and ratings,<br />

regulatory requirements and construction; planning of lift contracts<br />

and ancillary building work; cost of lifts; fire protection,<br />

sprinklers, detectors, alarms, extinguishers; telephone and<br />

sound systems; intrusion alarm systems; clock and time systems;<br />

acoustics.<br />

cost, builders allowance for each system.<br />

packages; hands-on experience in set-up of base accounts,<br />

trades, headings; measurement input; editing, correction and<br />

data manipulation; report generation in various bill of quantities<br />

formats; pricing using estimated and/or tendered rates;<br />

elemental analyses; computer measurement of contractual<br />

systems; specification and preamble development.<br />

and data manipulation; report generation and formatting;<br />

development of labour constants, standard rates and items;<br />

pricing, tendering, spreadsheet application; contract administration,<br />

variation control, rise and fall of final accounts;<br />

progress payments; cash flow forecasts.<br />
