ABSTRACT
According to the dogma of molecular biology, DNA contains data that is copied into RNA. This RNA
uses this genetic material to create a protein, this process is expressed: DNA → RNA → Protein. There are
two types of RNA vaccines, those containing messenger RNA that is translated into proteins that encode
the antigen using the cellular ribosomes to produce the immune response. Self-replicating vaccines are
slightly different in that they contain an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase complex, which causes
amplification of the mRNA, creating more copies of the same protein and producing an abundant
immunizing action. This immune response produces antibodies protecting against virus infection when it
actually enters our body. The mRNA vaccine method is the first vaccine approved for use against COVID-
19.
