ABSTRACT
Immunoglobulins are a type of "Y" -shaped glycoproteins made up of 2 identical heavy chains and 2 light
chains. We find them in cell membranes, blood plasma, and organic fluid. One of its main functions is the
binding of non-specific immunoglobulin to the antigen so that the immune system generates specific
antibodies. Antibodies have been used in many medical studies, as these macromolecules have specific
properties and affinity for their antigens. In this review of articles, we will analyze the various isotypes, their
generalities, functions, the biochemical properties of their structure and a biochemical approach in some
pathologies related to each of the immunoglobulins and an analysis focused on the relationship between certain
immunoglobulins and the Covid-19. Immunoglobulin studies have established that the Fab fragment is
extremely important for the specificity of binding with the antigen epitope, while the Fc fragment allows us to
determine the isotype of the immunoglobulin, in addition to that the pathologies related to them usually occur
mainly due to the deficiency of some of them and; for Covid-19, they have worked a lot for the initial attack of
the disease, the diagnosis of it through the presence and levels of IgM and IgG mainly in the body and even
intravenous administration as a temporary treatment while this virus continues to be studied.
