Unfortunately, the Mediterranean river load estimates are insufficient to make valid<br />

comparisons. Accordingly, stretching the existing information beyond its range of validity is<br />

unavoidable. <strong>UNEP</strong> (1984) lists water discharge rates and catchment basin size for 69 rivers
