Overige overwegingen
Motiverende gespreksvoering is in de eerste plaats een gespreksstijl. Effectonderzoek heeft
vooral plaatsgevonden met op motiverende gespreksvoering gebaseerde interventies. Op
grond hiervan meent de werkgroep dat motiverende gespreksvoering een gespreksstijl is die
elke hulpverlener bij alcoholproblemen zich eigen zou moeten maken en verdienen behandelingen
waar motiverende gespreksvoering een integraal onderdeel van vormt de voorkeur
boven interventies waarbij dat niet het geval is. Een voorbeeld is de korte motiverende interventie
die is gehanteerd in project Match en die in Nederland beschikbaar is (Schippers et al,
1994).
Aanbeveling
Motiverende gespreksvoering dient te worden ingezet bij alle psychosociale behandelingen
van alcoholmisbruik en alcoholafhankelijkheid, ongeacht de ernst van de afhankelijkheid.
