BIBA designs, develops and implements methods and tools to plan
and control logistics processes, coordinate product development
and production in company networks, and ensure that information
is fully available throughout the entire product lifecycle. With a focus
on engineering, it conducts research across industries and
insti tutions along the entire value chain, including in the fields
of digi talisation, Industry 4.0, interoperability, production planning
tatsächlich ist. Die 1971 gegründete Uni gehört zu den jüngsten
Zentren der akademischen Lehre und Forschung in
Deutschland.
mid 1990s, an increasing number of new institutes have
focused on first-rate scientific and technical topics, resulting
in the good name meanwhile attributed to the university.
Indeed, Bremen University was one of the first German universities
to be acknowledged as a leading research location
by the Excellence Initiative of the federal and state governments.
And when it comes to excellence, the Hanseatic City
also has three other outstanding education institutions:
these are Bremen University of Applied Sciences with its
primarily technical focus, the state University of the Arts and
the private international Jacobs University.
In Bremerhaven too, the University of Applied Sciences acts
as the nucleus for what is meanwhile a broad range of scientific
activities, although its development tended to go in the
opposite direction to Bremen University. Bremerhaven’s
university was founded back in 1879 as a Navigation College,
followed in 1884 by the Municipal College with the addition
of more education facilities particularly in the maritime and
technical sectors through to 1920. However, at times these
activities were severely restricted. Up to the mid 1970s,
Bremerhaven had no more than a small Technical College
