schon ein besonders großer Zusammenhalt, den wir da
wahrnehmen.“
Der Verein gibt die Unterstützung zurück
Um etwas von dieser einmaligen Unterstützung zurück -
zugeben, hat der Verein im Laufe der Zeit zahlreiche Angebote
und Aktionen ins Leben gerufen. Der traditionelle „Tag
der Fans“, zu dem jedes Jahr vor Saisonbeginn Tausende
Anhänger auf dem Festgelände rund um das Weserstadion
unterwegs sind und die Profis treffen können, ist nur ein Teil
davon. Schon 2002 startete Werder das Projekt „100 Schulen
– 100 Vereine“, das Kindern und Jugendlichen aus Partnerschulen
und -vereinen im gesamten Nordwesten Wissen
über Bewegung, gesunde Ernährung und Werte wie Toleranz
und Fairness vermittelt. Dazu gehören unter anderem

The club returns the support
Over the years, the club has had a range of things on offer to
give back some of this unique support. Just one example is
the traditional Fan Day when thousands of fans congregate
at the Weserstadium to meet the players at the start of every
season. Back in 2002, Werder launched the project “100
schools – 100 clubs” so that children and youngsters in
partner schools and clubs throughout Northwest Germany
could learn about the importance of exercise and a healthy
diet alongside values such as tolerance and fairness. Among
others, this includes ball schools for nurseries and primary
schools, training courses for teachers and coaches, a physical
presence during project weeks and more besides. The origin
behind the whole concept was Bremen’s failure to be
selected as a venue for the 2006 World Cup. Today’s Honorary
President Klaus-Dieter Fischer then decided to give the
people of the region something back in another way. “There
was such huge demand for the project ‘100 schools – 100
clubs’ that it gave us the incentive to enhance the quality
of the entire CSR programme for the coming years, creating
more and more efficient possibilities for the region”,
explains Anne-Kathrin Laufmann. “As a large sports club, we
acknowledge our responsibility to help get people moving.”
Ballschulen in Kindergärten und Grundschulen, Fortbil -
dungen für Lehrer und Trainer, Präsenz bei Projektwochen
und anderes mehr. Ursprung des Ganzen war die Tatsache,
dass Bremen damals nicht als Spielort für die Fußball-WM
2006 ausgewählt wurde. Der heutige Ehrenpräsident
Klaus-Dieter Fischer beschloss daraufhin, den Menschen aus
der Region auf andere Weise etwas zurückzugeben. „Das
Projekt ,100 Schulen – 100 Vereine’ hatte eine so enorme
Nachfrage, dass dies für uns ein Impuls war, die Qualität des
gesamten CSR-Programms für die nächsten Jahre ausbauen
zu wollen und immer mehr effiziente Möglichkeiten für die
Region zu schaffen“, erläutert Anne-Kathrin Laufmann. „Als
großer Sportverein sehen wir uns in der Verantwortung,
Bewegung zu unterstützen.“
Die 39-jährige Bremerin war maßgeblich am Aufbau der
Abteilung CSR-Management beteiligt, die sich mit allen
Aspekten von gesellschaftlichem Engagement, Nachhaltigkeit
und sozialen Aktivitäten beschäftigt. Als Werder diesen
Bereich 2008 offiziell gründete, war der Verein der bis dahin

ability and social activities. When Werder Bremen officially
inaugurated the department in 2008, it was the only
Bundesliga club to have a separate CSR department at that
time. Today social commitment is good business practice in
the Bundesliga. “We’re proud of being a pioneer for Cor -
porate Social Responsibility”, says Laufmann, who was also
involved in introducing the next step in this direction. The
whole topic plays an important role throughout the company
and not just in one department. “This is an important
