Euro in 2018
entwickelt. Nach einer Prognose des Handelsverbands Deutschland
soll 2019 der Wert um rund 5 Mrd. Euro steigen.
partner for the SME sector
Online orders have become as routine as commuting to work in
the morning or shopping at a supermarket. In Germany, online
trade is firmly established – particularly in the private consumer
sector (B2C). Between 2000 and 2018, B2C turnover has grown from
1.3 billion Euro to around 53.6 billion Euro and the German Retail
Association predicts a further increase of 5 billion Euro in 2019. This
bodes well for startups and SMEs in particular, promising plenty of
room for additional growth.
Branch-dependent expansion
Not all goods see the same level of online demand on the German
market. Fashion, electronics and entertainment media take
the lead, followed closely by cosmetics, furniture and toys. As far as
services are concerned, travel reservations and event tickets are clear
favourites. By contrast, certain goods such as food and drugstore
items still tend to be purchased offline.
