Hendrik Witt. Heute gehört xPick als innovative „pick-byvision“-Anwendung
für viele namhafte Firmen zur Standardanwendung,
sei es bei DHL, Mercedes-Benz, VW, Opel oder
dem Automobilzulieferer Schnellecke Group. Weitere
Ubimax-Lösungen bauten auf xPick auf: xMake, xInspect,
xAssist. Ubimax Frontline fasst als Plattform diese Lösungen
zusammen, die optimal auf die jeweiligen Kundenbedürfnisse
abgestimmt werden. Bei der Entwicklung von x-Pick
hatte auch die Bremer Wirtschaftsförderung das junge
Unternehmen nach Kräften unterstützt.
Ubimax’s idea is to make intelligent use of data headsets –
such as Google Glass – in logistics. The young company has
found a convincing solution for making the ideal connection
between man and machine. Its first great success came with
xPick: an order picking solution for warehouse staff to handle
orders without paper lists and hand scanners. The picker
works hands-free using self-explanatory information in the
display that shows him which aisle and shelf contains the
next item. In 2015, the application was tested successful over
a period of several weeks at a DHL branch and a Samsung
parts warehouse in the Netherlands.
“The users just loved it and the word soon spread about
having 25 percent more efficiency”, says Hendrick Witt.
Today, the innovative “pick-by-vision” xPick has become a
standard feature at many renowned companies including
DHL, Mercedes-Benz, VW and Opel or the automotive
supplier Schnellecke Group. xPick formed the basis for other
Ubimax solutions: xMake, xInspect, xAssist. Ubimax Frontline
is a platform that combines these solutions so that they
address the specific needs of the individual customer.
Bremen’s Economic Development Agency also made every
effort to support the young company with the development
of x-Pick.
Today, Ubimax is one of Bremen’s role-model companies
when it comes to start-ups. “One thing never ceases to
amaze me: although Bremen is an outstanding logistics
location, we have scarcely any customers here”, admits the
company boss. He presumes it’s all due to Hanseatic
understatement when it comes to investing in the very latest
technology. Ubimax has meanwhile really taken off. The
