die Kundenwünsche anzupassen.“
„Vernetztes Denken wird immer wichtiger“
Dass die Bedeutung der IT wächst, nimmt auch Daniel
Becker, Leiter der IT-Abteilung bei bremenports, so wahr. Das
Unternehmen ist zwar selbst kein Logistikdienstleister,
hat aber die Aufgabe, der Branche eine funktionierende
Hafeninfrastruktur zur Verfügung zu stellen – und steht
deswegen in engem Kontakt zu maritimer Wirtschaft und
Logistik, um die Entwicklung der Häfen in Bremen und
Bremerhaven konsequent auf deren Bedarf ausrichten zu
können. „Ohne IT geht gar nichts“, betont Becker. Dabei habe
seine Abteilung schon längst nicht mehr nur die Aufgaben
von Systemadministratoren zu erledigen: „In allen Fach -
bereichen steigen die Ansprüche an die IT. Wir sorgen dafür,
dass Daten strukturiert abgelegt werden können und ad
hoc nutzbar sind – denn für die täglichen Entscheidungen
müssen permanent aktuelle Informationen verfügbar sein.“

of the ports in Bremen and Bremerhaven is geared
consistently to their needs. “Nothing works without IT”,
emphasises Becker. The tasks facing his department go way
beyond just being system administrators. “All the departments
are making increasing demands of IT. We make sure
data can be archived in a structured process and retrieved ad
hoc when the need arises. Current information must be
constantly available for the decisions that have to be taken
every day.”
Current examples include the new storm surge control
centre in Bremerhaven. In the event of a disaster, the control
centre collates and provides all information available in the
ports. Another example is a new IT system intended to
optimise the planning and scheduling of train and truck
movements for Bremen’s port railway as from autumn 2020.
“Our systems are rated to facilitate information sharing”,
explains the IT boss. “The aim is for everyone who needs this
information to get it.” When it comes to digitisation, many
just focus purely on IT, says Becker. But that’s not the be-all

Aktuelle Beispiele dafür sind die neue Sturmflut-Einsatz -
zentrale in Bremerhaven, die im Katastrophenfall alle im
Hafen verfügbaren Informationen zusammenführt und
bereitstellt, sowie ein neues IT-System, das ab Herbst 2020
die Planung und Disposition der Zug- und Wagenbewegungen
der Bremischen Hafeneisenbahn optimieren soll. „Wir
legen unsere Systeme so aus, dass Informationen geteilt
werden können“, erläutert der IT-Chef. „Ziel ist es, dass alle,
die diese Informationen brauchen, etwas davon haben.“
Beim Thema Digitalisierung fokussierten sich viele rein auf
die IT, sagt Becker. Sie allein sei aber nicht alles: „Im Kontext
der Hafenwirtschaft heißt Digitalisierung ganz wesentlich

have to be examined from every single perspective, otherwise
it just won’t work, particularly when small and mediumsized
companies get left behind.” Even if this mindset is still
very new, there’s already a marked decrease in the traditional
tendency of companies to keep themselves to themselves.
“Many realise that they cannot see each other just as rivals.
Networked thinking is getting increasingly important. It’s all
a case of learning from each other.”

change forces all companies in the industry to reinvent
