The Town Musicians are one of Bremen’s best known landmarks.
Bremerhaven vereint touristische Attraktionen und Wirtschaftskraft.
Bremerhaven combines tourist attractions and economic power.
Was macht Bremen jenseits des Flusses aus? Einer muss es wissen:
Tourismuschef Peter Siemering
What is Bremen’s identity apart from the river? There’s one person
who should know: Tourism manager Peter Siemering
Mr Siemering, why is Bremen worth a visit?
Bremen is fabulous. Whether journalist, trade visitor or
private traveller, every visitor here for the first time: I wasn’t
expecting that. Bremen offers UNESCO World Heritage, 1,200
years of fascinating history, plenty of first-rate tourist attrac -
tions, art and culture and a very special USP: the Town Musicians,
known in Germany, Europe and throughout the world.
Where do you go when you spend a day as a tourist?
I’ve got my own hidden places of course, which will remain a
secret. But when I guide guests through Bremen, the first
place I take them is the town hall with its Ratskeller (wine
cellars), where we’ll enjoy a few Bremen specialities and one
or other glass of wine. Then we’ll have a look at the Town
Musicians and I’ll tell the story of Roland, our Mister Liberty.
The best thing is that all Bremen’s tourist attractions and
historical venues in the city centre can be reached on foot in
just one day. You’ll rarely find that elsewhere in Germany. On
a second day, I’d take the guest to the Überseestadt with its
incredible development, showing how Bremen has brought
an old waterfront back to a completely new life of its own.
