Timeless Rapture: Inspired Verse from the Shangpa Masters

They originate with the wisdom dakini Niguma.
Since I don’t need to wait three incalculable eons [until
enlightenment], my mind is at ease.
I possess the doctrines of the deities’ forms,
Such as Vajra Creator of Delight and Supreme Bliss,
And every vital point of their instructions.
Since I have no doubt in them, my mind is at ease.
I use the secret practice of the circle of emanation at the navel
And the four kinds of generosity to help other beings.
Since I don’t need to resort to wrong livelihood, my mind is at ease.
I possess instructions for vase breathing,
The chariot that binds and liberates at the energy centers.
Each instant of meditation on them
Brings uninterrupted heat and bliss.
Since I have bliss and emptiness, my mind is at ease.
I possess instructions for Transference of Consciousness
Called Wisdom Star-Gate.
Since even evil persons merely recalling them at death
Go to the celestial realms, my mind is at ease.
I have a protector of the doctrine, Awakened Protector,
And an activity protector, Kshétrapala.
Since they guard Buddha’s teaching
And obey me like servants, my mind is at ease.

Here on this special occasion, the waxing moon’s tenth day,
During a vajra feast where dakinis gather,
In response to the request
Of my disciple-children,
Who are as dear to me as my own heart,
I have sung this open song of attaining bliss.
It comes with the dakinis’ blessings:
May those who hear it
Realize the spiritual master as the body of ultimate enlightenment
