The Shangpa Masters and Their Lineage 273
Buddha Unmoving, the Four Deities, Awakened Protector,
And the dakinis visibly visited you; to you I pray.
During your celebration of Lama Shangpa’s death memorial,
He and Buddha Boundless Light came to give you the Central
Channel’s Nectar. 40
You saw the pure lands clearly, with buddhas as numerous as all atoms
On each atom; to you I pray.
Others could see emanations of your overpowering mastery.
When you sat in space, fortunate persons were moved to faith.
You accepted them, gathered countless disciples,
And brought them all to spiritual maturity and liberation; to you
I pray.
To hear your name or voice, to see your residence,
Or to have faith and devotion toward you induced meditative states
And led limitless numbers of people to liberation.
Any connection to you was significant; to you I pray.
When you gave empowerment,
The Five Tantras’ Deities visibly appeared at your five centers
And upon the sand mandala, seen by all fortunate persons.
Source of blessings, to you I pray.
From Blissful realm, Buddha’s servants came to invite you,
But you did not agree to leave [to die].
For three years you stayed to turn the wheel of the Teachings,
To nurture your disciples-children; to you I pray.
“After this life, in the eastern pure land of Joyful, in the Radiant
realm,
I will attain manifest enlightenment
And teach only the Great Way!”
You made this proclamation in a lion’s roar; to you I pray.
“Those who preserve the lineage should turn their prayers to
me there:
