the sea have been amazed and sometimes intimidated by its size and power.
All are taken by surprise when they taste the sea for the first time: salt
water! It strikes me as ironic that Kongtrul used that word alongside “blessing,”
a word that we are familiar with in the same way Tibetans know the
word “sea”—although we have a word for it, many of us have never seen,
felt, or tasted “blessing.” My hope is that this translation will allow you to
experience this sea of blessing as Kongtrul and the Shangpa masters
intended.
