158 Timeless Rapture
When he was leading a vajra feast circle at Yardrok Taklung, this song
arose as the inherent sound of the vajra inner channels.
Namo Mahamudra-ya!
In the space of the unborn expanse,
The wisdom of awareness manifests its impartial display,
Shining as the stars and planets of knowledge, love, and power.
Illustrious lord spiritual master, Buddha Vajra Bearer,
This beggar respectfully prays to you.
Compassionate one, please bless me.
In the pure realm above
Dwells an eternal body endowed with a mind of great bliss.
He is known as Buddha Vajra Bearer,
Said to be chief of all configurations of enlightenment,
But in fact he is nowhere else but here—
My root spiritual master.
My sole father, by your kindness and compassion,
I have gained a little stability.
My decisive confidence in the fundamental basis,
The uncontrived, innate state of the abiding nature,
Gives me the experience of joy.
Within the natural, vivid appearances that arise in mind’s clarity,
There is nothing that cannot appear.
This liberation at the moment of arising
Is the contemplative practice of self-liberation, is it not?
This full recognition of my own nature, without distraction,
Is what is known as tranquillity.
This not finding an intrinsic nature, that mind is rootless,
Is insight’s transcendent knowledge, is it not?
Once I know my own mind and the spiritual lord’s to be inseparable,
To behold the face of ultimate enlightenment presents no difficulty.

enlightened face,
