58 Timeless Rapture
Natural luminosity without meditation, without thought,
Beyond center or limits, is the meaning of the Middle Way.
Meditate on the mind’s nature like that.
Toward beings who do not realize this,
Meditate with compassion toward their sickness and demons.
Whichever being is before you,
Settle in evenness and meditate on equality.
Meditating thus in all circumstances,
You will accomplish the nondual meaning.
Here are the oral lineage’s meditation instructions:
Meditate on the union of all buddhas’ bodies
And all beings’ nature of mind
As a white syllable Hung
At your and others’ hearts on the seat of a sun.
Imagine it as a drop of vital essence.
Think that this itself tames beings
And purifies all obscuring emotions.
This is the nondual meaning—
Deities have no intrinsic nature [apart from this].
After having meditated thus on compassion,
In inconceivable love,
Think this for beings’ benefit:
At your heart, you the meditator
Imagine an eight-petaled lotus the size of a pea.
Then, between white and red clear lights
Stands the Fire God, a white syllable Om.
There is no material practice.
Do not think of anything at all.
Whoever meditates on this contemplation
Will accomplish nondual wisdom—
Ultimate enlightenment, clarity without [clinging to] awareness.
