Timeless Rapture: Inspired Verse from the Shangpa Masters

You displayed eight forms simultaneously,
Such as one on a mountain peak; I bow my head to you.
Likewise, in other worlds and in this land of Tibet,
You displayed many emanations simultaneously.
The leader among them was the spiritual hero from Oddiyana,
Vishnu-raja,
The basis of your manifestations; I bow my head to you.
The Héruka entrusted you with his secret treasury;
Shakyamuni empowered you as lord of all his Teachings.
The eight great bodhisattvas blessed you as the source
Of every discourse and tantra; I bow my head to you.
All-Seeing One praised you as a bodhisattva who would guide beings;
Bodhisattva Essence of the Sky gave you modes of higher training;
Noble Tara always showed you her face and bestowed prophecies—
Your wisdom greatly increased; I bow my head to you.
Padmakara placed you in the sacred circle of blood-drinkers;
Yeshé Tsogyal gave you empowerment through profound symbols;
Dombi Héruka authorized you as chief
Of the three locations’ dakinis; I bow my head to you.
Chandragomin introduced you to meditative states;
Aryadéva washed away your pain during an illness;
Melodious Goddess bestowed mastery of speech.
Master of wide, inconceivable wisdom, I bow my head to you.
When you prayed to the eighty accomplished masters, translators,
and congregation of meditators,
They gave you teachings.
Abhaya had you enter an infinitely large configuration
Of the tantras; I bow my head to you.
Guhya-jnana granted you the four secret empowerments;
The dakinis gave you supreme, victorious medicine.
