Timeless Rapture: Inspired Verse from the Shangpa Masters

40 Timeless Rapture
All sentient beings, my mothers, whose numbers fill the expanse of
space, take refuge in the union of all refuges, my precious spiritual
master.
Then recite this development of the mind of awakening three times:
For the benefit of all sentient beings, I will attain great Buddha Vajra
Bearer’s state of integral union; for this reason, I now recite the
vajra songs of realization.
Those who sing these songs must relinquish thoughts of themselves as ordinary
persons and remain steadfast within contemplative practice. To bring this
clearly to mind, recite the following:
This environment and the beings within it are pure, a celestial realm.
This place is a palace of perfect freedom, decorated within and without
by ornaments and offerings in infinite designs. Each person here
among us personifies the circle of the five héruka deities [in the sacred
circle of Supreme Bliss].
From each of our hearts, tremendous light shines forth and illuminates
all buddhas’ realms. This light invites spiritual masters, buddhas
and their spiritual heirs, the bodhisattvas, in the form of wisdom
deities’ sacred circles. They arrive here and fill the sky before us.
Vajra Sama Ja
Spiritual master, conquerors and your heirs,
Deities, spiritual heroes, and yoginis—
In your display as ultimate enlightenment that pervades space,
Signs of movement, of coming and going, have no hold over you.
You are magical manifestations of wisdom who guide beings
according to their needs.
In the open expanse of our minds’ devotion, you are vividly present.
Until you complete your work for others’ sake, remain,
And bless the circle of this vajra gathering.
