Timeless Rapture: Inspired Verse from the Shangpa Masters

Gentle protector, illustrious master and spiritual warrior of
accomplishment, Kunga Drolchok, [also known as] Losal
Gyatso-dé, was spiritually nurtured directly by the wisdom dakini Niguma
and thus became the main inheritor of the very recent lineage. Among the
garland of songs he sang to provide support for [the practice of] Niguma’s
teachings, this is the vajra song that relates the source of the teachings:
Shri Vajradhara Sadhu-pada-pranamayam
In the highest point of the noble Oral Instruction Lineage’s sky,
Our ancestors, accomplished spiritual masters, are as numerous as the
stars.
Among them, the resplendent sun and moon that move unhindered
through space
Are Naropa and Niguma, are they not?
The rivers of these siblings’ lineages of meditation practice
Flow to the present day, bringing medicinal water
To satisfy the minds of thirsty, fortunate disciples.
Those rivers are the doctrines of Naropa and Niguma, are they not?
Both traditions are preserved by a spiritual lord,
An illustrious, incomparable body of manifest enlightenment,
The single crown of our many realized masters—
The two Kagyu lineages, Dakpo and Shangpa.
In the past, what Tilo and Naro began
Marpa and Mila preserved.
