<strong>the</strong>] five magnificent aspects of <strong>the</strong> teaching [<strong>the</strong> teacher, location,<br />

time, audience, and teaching]: [if such an individual were to enunciate<br />

new tantras now,] <strong>the</strong> [magnificent] time would be contradicted,<br />

as this present time is <strong>the</strong> period of <strong>the</strong> doctrine’s decline.<br />

Fur<strong>the</strong>r, one doctrine cannot have two Teachers. (Ibid., pp. 20-21)<br />

This last line reaffirms that Shakyamuni and Vajra Bearer cannot be dissociated,<br />

since <strong>the</strong>ir different forms and distinct teachings do not count as<br />

separate Teachers or initiators of <strong>the</strong> Buddhist doctrine, but as one and <strong>the</strong><br />

same Buddha.
