Timeless Rapture: Inspired Verse from the Shangpa Masters

The view and the viewer will separate
And impede meditation.
Without contrivance, transformation, or reference point,
Rest your mind as it is: that’s it!
When that continues without interruption, you will gain the result.
For the benefit of others, I, the one known as Lodrö, 26 wrote this based
on my own experience. May it prove virtuous!
Fortunate brother and sister companions whose commitments are
pure,
You have reached the path to freedom in a single lifetime.
This body of ultimate enlightenment, the mind’s nature, awarenessemptiness,
Is endowed with all the positive qualities of freedom and maturity.
Not shrouded by the darkness of ignorance,
Not scattered by the winds of distraction,
Not polluted by clinging to meditative states—
If you don’t lose hold of the vigor of unformulated awareness,
And if simple knowing’s inner glow has not faded,
Even if you view and examine appearing forms,
You will not find a moment in which they transcend appearanceemptiness.
Even if you listen to and grasp audible sounds,
They will be vivid sound-emptiness, without attachment.
Even if you smell and linger on myriad fragrances,
Your awareness of sensation-emptiness will be fresh.
Whatever sweet and delicious tastes you savor,
Your knowing of taste-emptiness will be pure and empty.
