All gods and humans praised you as beings’ lord protector; to you
I pray.
You traveled over greater Tibet’s central and western regions
And relied on over one hundred tutors, pleasing them in three ways. 58
Without fatigue or regret, you searched for the sacred Teachings
With boundless determination; to you I pray.
When you meditated in the great Sakya [Kunga Nyingpo’s] cave,
Exalted deities’ forms dissolved into your heart,
Liberating the eight great treasures of your confidence
And perfecting the two forms of wisdom’s great display; to you I pray.
You excelled in Buddhist culture’s five main and secondary subjects,
Such as grammar, logic, art, medicine, astrology, and poetic
embellishments.
Your fame as a scholar
Filled the Himalayan region; to you I pray.
By merely seeing their texts, you plumbed the depths of discipline,
knowledge, the Middle Way,
Transcendent knowledge, and Secret Mantra’s tantras.
You gained a flawless memory and overtly displayed
The form of Stable Wheel [Manjushri]; to you I pray.
Your vision saw profound and vast subjects without the slightest
impurity.
You engaged in teaching, debate, and composition without hesitation
or impediment.
You exhausted delusion’s impurities in any act or conduct,
Inspiring confidence in gods and humanity; to you I pray.
You concealed your inner qualities, an ocean of treasures;
To others’ most minor noble quality, you offered praise and homage.
For the doctrine and beings’ benefit, you parted with cherished
possessions
As if they were as worthless as grass; to you I pray.
