“In a former lifetime, the Victor foretold your life—
You were a listener who gained miraculous powers.
Therefore, Indian scholars, such as I, cannot act as your preceptor.”
With these words, he showered you with inconceivable praise; to you
I pray.
As the master foretold, you went to the Cool Province [the
Himalayan region],
Where Buddha Boundless Light’s manifestation, Langri Tangpa, 37
Hoisted the victory banner of freedom’s pure conduct.
Second Powerful Sage, to you I pray.
You traveled without material needs, carrying rare gems and gold
powder,
And you disregarded your precious life when confronted with
hardships
In the course of seven journeys to India and Nepal.
Great bodhisattva, to you I pray.
You approached one hundred fifty Indian scholars,
Of whom fifty were particularly learned and accomplished masters.
Four were especially exalted root spiritual masters,
And two were wisdom dakinis, who received direct teaching
From the body of enlightenment’s rapture, the sixth Buddha Vajra
Bearer. 38
You pleased them, received their ultimate instructions,
Resolved your misunderstandings, and practiced single-mindedly
Until you attained common and supreme accomplishment; to you
I pray.
In Sosa Park’s acacia grove,
The Victor’s consort, vajra queen Niguma,
Entrusted you with the single-disciple lineage, Buddha Vajra Bearer’s
secret treasury.
Lord of awakening’s tenth stage, to you I pray.
In the place that brings happiness, Medicinal Grove,
Buddha Selfless One, Sukasiddhi, bestowed empowerment and
prophecies,
