party: that is, mixing the gifts of the Muses, that is, poems (A ii above), apparently with erotic delights,<br />

pleasurable thoughts of love (B v). Anacreon is probably thinking of the banqueter who likes erotic verse<br />

rather than of the author of sympotic love poetry.<br />
