Results from Google‘s report indicate that the average age of a USsmartphone user - is 38.6.<strong>Mobile</strong> is still difficult to buy with many WAP sites an issue:November 17, 2011: It's still far too difficult to buy mobile advertisingonline, and about 90% of ads on publisher sites never appear on apart of the mobile screen that consumers view without scrolling downthe page, said Greg Stuart, Global CEO, <strong>Mobile</strong> <strong>Marketing</strong>Association, during opening remarks at the industry conference inLos Angeles.Click-based mobile advertising was another area of dissatisfaction,according to the survey conducted by the Relevancy Group andcommissioned by mobile and online signup ad platform Pontiflex. Itfound that just over half (56 percent) of Fortune 500 marketers aredissatisfied with or don‘t use click-based mobile advertising. Thesurvey said marketers wanted to invest more in mobile, due to itsimportance as a medium, but that three major aspects needed to beaddressed: ROI needs to be improved (named by 73 percent); emailsubscribers should be increased (54 percent); and socialcommunities have to be supported (53 percent).Google conducted a study which showed that traditional media andradio are particularly effective in generating mobile searches.The study found that 68% of respondents cite traditional media as acause for their mobile web searches. More specifically, 40% citeAM/FM radio. 43% mentioned TV. Paul Jacobs of Jacobs <strong>Media</strong>wrote that the study ―reinforces the notion that a timely radiomessage can drive behavior – especially among consumers withmobile phones.243
