Section 5 Common Matching - FunctionalHow the New Matching Process WorksHow the New Matching Process WorksWhen you enter an ID on SPAIDEN and then execute the matching process, you canreceive a match status of “New”, “Match”, or “Potential Match”.New RecordsRecords are matched with a status of “New” if no records match, based on the rulesthat have been set up. When a record is identified as being new, the General PersonAPIs are used to insert the data into SPRIDEN, SPRADDR, SPRTELE, SPBPERS,and/or GOREMAL. Once the record is made new, you are returned to SPAIDEN.Matched RecordsRecords are matched with a status of “Match” if one, and only one, record in Bannermatches the incoming person based on the rules that have been set up.Data for the matched PIDM is displayed for review by the user. You can select thematched record and return to the main window of SPAIDEN, or you can select andupdate the matched person with data entered in the Data Entry block onGOAMTCH before returning to SPAIDEN.Potentially Matched RecordsRecords are matched with a status of “Potential Match” (or “Suspense”) if some, butnot all, fields match someone in Banner based on the rules that have been set up.For example, the first and last names for the record match, but the date of birth doesnot match. You can create the person as “New” or ”Match”, or you can select one of thepotentially matched records as the “Match”.Rule ExamplesHere are some ways you can build rules for matching in Banner Student.Priority Column Name Data Element Length Required/Exists1 SPRIDEN_SEARCH_LAST_NAME LAST NAME/NON-PERSON NAME 10 RequiredSPRIDEN_SEARCH_FIRST_NAME FIRST NAME 10 RequiredSPBPERS_SSN SSN/SIN/TIN 9 RequiredStudent Release 7.0 January 2005148 Release Guide Confidential
