Section 3 Concurrent Curricula Phase I - FunctionalNew Concepts• Have the new inquiry form (SOILCUR) reference the same curriculumwindow, in query-only mode.• Provide conversion scripts for Recruit, Applicant, General Learner, andLearner Outcome curriculum data to move existing curriculum data to thenew table structure. These scripts can be executed in batch or automaticallyfrom forms when it is determined that the person’s curriculum data has not yetbeen converted.New ConceptsThe Concurrent Curricula Foundation project introduces several new concepts thatwill require attention during the implementation of Banner 7.0. These concepts are:• new terminology• new curriculum tables• assignment of priorities to curricula and fields of study• backfill of curriculum data• non-destructive updates• Attached to Major field• status codes• new Curriculum window and Curriculum Summary blockNew TerminologyAs of Banner 7.0, we are referring to students as "learners," and to academic historyas the "learner outcome."• “Learner” was chosen to encompass both the traditional student (someone 18- 22 years of age pursuing an undergraduate degree), as well as the personpursuing additional education for a variety of reasons such as work or personalfulfillment.• “Outcome” identifies the result a learner expects to obtain after theireducational experience with the institution (i.e., degree, certificate, etc.).This change exists within each form and within the documentation but does notaffect form names (i.e., SGASTDN is still the General Student Form) or menunames. This change also does not affect the overall name of the product (i.e, SCTBanner Student).January 2005 Student Release 7.0Confidential Release Guide 43
