Section 12 Miscellaneous EnhancementsNew Course Maintenance Form (SHATCKN)New Course Maintenance Form (SHATCKN)The new Course Maintenance Form (SHATCKN) replaces the three separate formsthat used to handle pre-catalog, catalog, and section-dependent coursemaintenance in Academic History. SHATCKN references the Institutional CourseTerm Maintenance Repeating Table (SHRTCKN).The Catalog-Dependent Course Maintenance Form (SHATCKC), the Pre-CatalogCourse Maintenance Form (SHATCKP), and the Section-Dependent CourseMaintenance Form (SHATCKS) are obsolete. SHATCKC, SHATCKP, and SHATCKSwere not on any menus in Banner Student.You can access SHATCKN from SHAINST and SHACRSE using course data for aterm, where you can change the course details, based upon how the course isvalidated. Validation still occurs using SCACRSE (Catalog), SSASECT (Schedulesection), or does not occur if the record contains Pre-Catalog (Pre-Banner)information.Data for new entries is pushed into course history (bypassing the need to register forand roll courses) using direct access in Banner. You cannot push data into historyfor a term unless a term header record already exists on SHAINST.Validation CheckingA new Validation Check field has been added to the Key Block. This field is used toindicate the level of validation to be performed using pulldown choices for: Schedule,Catalog, and Pre-Banner.When SHATCKN is called from SHAINST or SHACRSE, the new validationprocessing is set as follows:• If SHATCKS would have been called, (the course is based upon a section builtin SSASECT), the Validation Check field is set to Schedule.• If SHATCKC would have been called, (the course was entered with Catalogonly, and no section existed for that record), the Validation Check field is setto Catalog.• If SHATCKP would have been called, (the course was a pre-catalog entry anddid not reference either section or catalog information), the Validation Checkfield is set to Pre-Banner.Edit checking within the form is determined by the setting of the Validation Checkfield.Student Release 7.0 January 2005296 Release Guide Confidential
