Section 6 Improved Drop/Withdrawal Processing (Defect 49132) - FunctionalOverviewConnected Drops Processed AutomaticallyYou want the system to automatically drop a linked course if the course to which itis linked is dropped. To accomplish this, you have set the external code to Y for theAUTODROP rule.Connected Drops Not AllowedYou do not want students to be able to drop a connected course unless all thecourses in the connection are dropped simultaneously by the user. To accomplishthis, you have set the external code to N for the AUTODROP rule.Drop Last Class Not AllowedYou do not want a student to be able to drop his or her last class via the Web. Toaccomplish this, you have set the external code to N for the WEBDROPLST rule.Administrative DropsAn administrative drop is one that occurs automatically when a user accesses astudent’s registration record after certain changes that affect registration recordsoccur within the system, after registration has opened and enrollment for a courseexists. These changes can include:• A CRN’s pre-requisites are changed.• A CRN’s co-requisites are changed.• A CRN is linked to another CRN.• An approval requirement is added to a CRN.• The number of hours associated with a CRN are changed (which can cause astudent already registered to exceed a maximum-hours limit).• The meeting day or time of a CRN is changed (which can cause a time conflictin a student’s schedule).• An equivalent course is added (which can cause a duplicate course error on thestudent's schedule). When a student has registered and later their registration record is accessed via theWeb or Voice Response, the system determines whether any of the above kinds ofchanges occurred. If so, the system determines which of the following conditionsapplies and takes the necessary action. If the student’s record is accessed and changed in the Student Course RegistrationForm (SFAREGS), any administrative errors encountered must be resolved. You can run the new Registration Admin Messages Report (SFRRGAM) to reviewadministrative drop errors that need to be resolved.Student Release 7.0 January 2005192 Release Guide Confidential
