Section 3 Concurrent Curricula Phase I - FunctionalCurriculum APIWhen a new row is inserted in SORLFOS:• If the insert is automatic, the curriculum status is populated with the value thathas been assigned on STVDEGS for the corresponding degree status. If novalue has been assigned on STVDEGS, then the activity status is populated witha status of ACTIVE, and the curriculum status is populated with a status ofINPROGRESS.• If the insert is manual, the curriculum status is populated with the value thathas been assigned on STVDEGS for the corresponding degree status. If novalue has been assigned on STVDEGS, then the activity status is populated witha status of ACTIVE, and the curriculum status is populated with a status ofINPROGRESS. However, you can change these values before saving the record.When a row is to be changed in SORLCUR and/or SORLFOS:• To inactivate an existing SORLCUR record and add a new one, select theSORLCUR row to be inactivated, and click on the Change Curriculum button.This will automatically duplicate and inactivate the selected row, and a new rowwill be inserted for the user to enter curriculum data.• To inactivate or change an existing SORLCUR or SORLFOS row, select the rowto be inactivated or changed. Perform an Insert Record function and then aDuplicate Record function. If an SORLCUR row is duplicated, all of itscorresponding SORLFOS rows are duplicated as well. All of the fields from theselected row are duplicated, except for the activity and curriculum statuses.These two fields are made NULL. You can then modify the row with theappropriate curriculum and activity status codes.If a degree record already exists (i.e., one exists with a status of PENDING), and thedegree status is changed to some other status (such as SOUGHT), the form willautomatically insert new SORFLOS rows for the given degree record with theappropriate curriculum status codes from STVDEGS based on the new degree statuscode entered. If no value has been assigned on STVDEGS for the curriculum status,then the curriculum status value will default based on the Awarded Indicator settingassociated with the degree status code. If the newly added degree status has anAwarded Indicator of A (AWARDED), then the curriculum status will be set toAWARDED. If the degree status entered has an Awarded Indicator of P (PENDING),then the curriculum status will be set to PENDING. If the degree status entered hasan Awarded Indicator of NULL, then the curriculum status will be set to SOUGHT.The default activity status for these three options will be set to ACTIVE.When the Degree Status Update Report (SHRDEGS) is run, degree records areautomatically created, as well as student records. When this report creates a newdegree record (based on the parameter values), the API will use the curriculumstatus code stored on STVDEGS for the given degree status code of the degreerecord that is created. This allows you to determine which curriculum status codeshould be assigned based on the degree status code. In addition, if SHRDEGScreates a new student record, the API will use the curriculum status code assignedon STVSTST when the New Student Status parameter is selected.Student Release 7.0 January 200568 Release Guide Confidential
