Thiruvananthapuram and Rajasthan (Mount Abu and Kota). Team 7 AFH<br />

provided medical assistance at the site of train accident at Pokhraya, Kanpur<br />

in November, 2016. The team provided assistance in evacuating 15 passengers<br />

out of the damaged train coaches and first aid/ limb immobilization/ airway<br />

management/ CPR were also given to 15 patients.<br />

Three Flight Cadets - Avani Chaturvedi, Bhawana Kanth and Mohana<br />

Singh created history by becoming the first women pilots to be commissioned<br />

into the fighter stream after passing out from the IAF Academy, Dundigal in<br />

Telangana. They have been trained on Pilatus PC-7 Mk II and Kiran aircraft.<br />

Presently, they are undergoing training on Hawk Mk-132 Advance Jet Aircraft.<br />

Three more women cadets have been selected in Fighter stream in June, 2017.<br />

Presently, they are undergoing Stage-II (Fighter) training at Air Force Station<br />

Hakimpet and will be commissioned into the fighter stream in December, 2017<br />

after successful completion of their training.<br />

<strong>India</strong>n Coast Guard<br />

<strong>India</strong>n Coast Guard was constituted in 1977 with following charter of duties:<br />

(a) safety and protection of artificial islands, offshore terminals and installations;<br />

(b) protection to fishermen including assistance to them at sea while in distress;<br />

(c) preserve and protect maritime environment and to prevent and control<br />

marine pollution; (d) assisting Customs and other authorities in anti-smuggling<br />

operations; (e) safety of life and property at sea and collection of' scientific<br />

data; (f) enforcing the provisions of various enactments in the maritime zones.<br />
