Sector is expected to grow at a healthy pace considering the rapid changes in<br />

food habits and consumerist culture developing in the country. The machinery<br />

manufacturers have honed their expertise in manufacturing dairy machinery<br />

and other core equipment of food processing machinery.<br />

Packaging Machinery Industry: Packaging of consumer products or<br />

industrial products is emerging as the USP in the marketing strategies.<br />

Developments in packaging technology have not only contributed to improving<br />

the aesthetic appeal of the products but also the shelf life. In some cases<br />

specialized packaging becomes a technical necessity. Considering the growth<br />

prospects in industrial sector and growing consumer awareness of packaging,<br />

it is expected that there would be substantial growth in this area. There is a<br />

wide range of packaging machinery available in the country covering packaging<br />

of vast range of items. Some of the commonly available packing machinery<br />

includes machines for coding and on-line printing machines, feeding and<br />

labeling machines, strip packaging, form fill and seal machines, carton filling,<br />

fully automatic bag making machinery and automatic microprocessor controlled<br />

packaging machines.<br />

Water Pollution Control Equipment: Due to growing awareness regarding<br />

water pollution and stringent environmental control standards being enforced<br />

for various uses including process industries, the water/waste water treatment<br />

industry is poised for huge growth. The various categories of water pollution<br />

control equipment broadly include waste water treatment plants, drinking water<br />

treatment plants and effluent treatment plants. Water/waste water treatment<br />

is the process of removing contaminants and it includes physical, chemical and<br />

biological processes to remove physical, chemical and biological contaminants.<br />

The primary treatment is the first step in the treatment process and involves<br />

the removal of pollutants that settles or floats. The common industrial<br />

equipments are clarifiers and oil - water separator devices. The secondary<br />

treatment is designed to substantially degrade the biological content of the<br />

sewage. The common equipments are activated sludge, filters, biological reactors<br />

etc. The tertiary treatment is a polishing step to remove contaminants that missed<br />

in the primary and secondary treatment and removal of suspended solids,<br />

refractory organics and toxic components. Tertiary physical processes are<br />

filtration and carbon absorption. Chemical process includes precipitation,<br />

oxidation and neutralization. The biological processes involve biodegrading.<br />

Organisms such as bacteria, fungi, yeasts and algae are commonly used to break<br />

down the organic matters. The cell tissues are then removed from the treated<br />

water by physical method like clarification. The complete plants are<br />

manufactured mostly in the organized sector and many equipments are<br />

manufactured in the MSME sector as well.<br />

Air Pollution Control Equipment: Industrialization and urbanization have<br />

resulted in a profound deterioration of <strong>India</strong>'s air quality. <strong>India</strong>'s most severe<br />

environmental problem, come in several forms, including vehicular emissions<br />
