ethnographical research. The Cultural Informatics Lab of IGNCA undertakes<br />

interactive multi-media projects, with rich academic content. The work on Ajanta<br />

caves, Brhadishwara temple, pre-historic art of <strong>India</strong> are some of the most<br />

significant works in this genre. This division has also developed a multi media<br />

presentation on tradition and art form Devnarayan.<br />

The Kaladarsana Division is responsible for dissemination of in-house<br />

research and hosts exhibitions and programmes related to the academic<br />

resources of the centre. It also collaborates with like-minded organizations to<br />

show case the best in various genres of art. IGNCA has three regional centres:<br />

The regional centre, Bengaluru is aimed at intensifying the Centre's studies on<br />

the southern region's art and cultural heritage. The regional centre, Varanasi<br />

mainly focuses on Indological and Sanskrit studies.The Northeastern regional<br />

centre, Guwahati collaborates in programmes relating to the culture-rich<br />

communities of the north eastern region. IGNCA is conducting three post<br />

graduate diploma course in preventive conservation, cultural informatics and<br />

buddhist studies. Apart from that IGNCA also conducts regular training<br />

programmes and workshops for the scholars and researcher in the relative fields<br />

such as Epigraphy, Natya Shastra, Vastu Kala, Traditional Arts.<br />

A wide range of programmes are organized by IGNCA throughout the<br />

year. The regular programmes held at IGNCA are the Friday Film Circle (every<br />

second and fourth Friday at 6 p.m.) and the Thursday Book Circle (every fourth<br />

Thursday at 4.30 p.m.) The Centre hosts public lectures regularly which are<br />

also webcast. Detailed information on all resources, activities, facilities and<br />

programmes of IGNCA is available on the website www.ignca.gov.in and its<br />

Facebook page. The bi-monthly IGNCA programme schedule, can be<br />

Centre e for Cultural Resources and Training<br />

The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) is one of the premier<br />

institutions working in the field of linking education with culture. CCRT was<br />

set up in 1979 as an autonomous organization by the Government of <strong>India</strong>.<br />

With headquarters in New Delhi, it has three regional centres at Udaipur,<br />

Hyderabad and Guwahati. The broad objectives of CCRT are revitalize the<br />

education system by creating an understanding and awareness among students<br />

about the plurality of the regional cultures of <strong>India</strong> and integrating this<br />

knowledge with education. The main thrust is on linking education with culture<br />

and making students aware of the importance of culture in all development<br />

programmes. It conducts a variety of training programmes for in-service teachers<br />

drawn from all parts of the country. The training provides an understanding<br />

and appreciation of the philosophy, aesthetics and beauty inherent in <strong>India</strong>n<br />

art and culture and focuses on formulating methodologies for incorporating a<br />

cultural component in curriculum teaching. This training also stresses the role<br />

of culture in science and technology, housing, agriculture, sports, etc. It creates<br />

awareness amongst students and teachers of their role in solving environmental<br />

pollution problems and conservation and preservation of the natural and<br />

cultural heritage.
