equip the peer educators, the Ministry launched ''Saathiya Resource Kit'' in<br />

2017. Understanding the growing number of mobile based app users, Saathiya<br />

Salah App has also been made a part of the ''Saathiya Resource Kit''. The App is<br />

linked to another important piece of cost-effective information platform of a<br />

toll-free Saathiya Helpline.<br />

Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram<br />

Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) scheme entitles all pregnant women<br />

delivering in public health institutions to absolutely free and no expense delivery<br />

including caesarean section.<br />

Janani Suraksha Yojana<br />

Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is a safe motherhood intervention under the<br />

National Health Mission. The objective is to reduce maternal and neonatal<br />

mortality by promoting institutional delivery among poor pregnant women.<br />

Family Planning<br />

Mission Parivar Vikas was launched for substantially increasing the access to<br />

contraceptives and family planning services in 146 high fertility districts of seven<br />

high focus states (Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh,<br />

Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Assam) with TFR of 3 and above.<br />

Free Drugs<br />

The initiative has been launched with an objective to put in place systems such<br />

as facility wise Essential Drug List (EDL), robust procurement system, IT backed<br />

logistics and supply chain management, proper warehousing and necessary<br />

drug regulatory and quality assurance mechanisms, standard treatment<br />

guidelines, prescription audit and grievance redressal systems etc, to ensure<br />

provision of quality free essential drugs.<br />

Free Diagnostic Services<br />

The objective behind the NHM free diagnostic services initiative is to reduce<br />

the out-of-pocket expenditure on diagnostics as well as to improve the quality<br />

of care. Support is provided to states for providing essential diagnostics free of<br />

cost in public health facilities. Operational Guidelines on this initiative have<br />

been released on 2nd July, 2015. Five states, namely, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka,<br />

Maharashtra, J&K and Tripura, have already adopted the model as per the<br />

national guidelines.<br />

National Ambulance Services<br />

One of the achievements of NRHM is the patient transport ambulances operating<br />

under Dial 108/102 ambulance service. Dial 108 is emergency response system,<br />

primarily designed to attend to patients of critical care, trauma and accident<br />

victims etc. Dial 102 services essentially consist of basic patient transport aimed<br />

to cater to the needs of pregnant women and children though other categories<br />

are also taking benefit and are not excluded.
