3) Behradin-Kodawali area in Raipur district and Tokapal, Dugapal, etc. areas<br />

in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh; and 4) Eastern <strong>India</strong>n tract mostly of Odisha,<br />

lying between Mahanadi and Godavari valleys.<br />

As per the UNFC system as in 2015 all <strong>India</strong> resources of diamond are<br />

placed at around 31.84 million carats. Out of these, 0.96 million carats are placed<br />

under reserves category and 30.87 million carats under remaining resources<br />

category. By grades, about 2.38 per cent resources are of gem variety, 2.64 per<br />

cent of industrial variety and bulk of the resources (95 per cent) are placed<br />

under unclassified category. By states, Madhya Pradesh accounts for about 90.18<br />

per cent resources followed by Andhra Pradesh 5.73 per cent and Chhattisgarh<br />

4.10 per cent.<br />

Dolomite<br />

Dolomite occurrences are widespread in the country. As per UNFC system, as<br />

on 1.4.2015 total resources of dolomite are placed at 8,415 million tonnes, out of<br />

which 679 million tonnes are placed under reserves category. Major share of<br />

about 88 per cent resources was distributed in eight states: namely, Madhya<br />

Pradesh (27 per cent), Andhra Pradesh (15 per cent), Chhattisgarh (11 per cent)<br />

Odisha (10 per cent), Karnataka and Rajasthan (7 per cent each), Gujarat (6 per<br />

cent) and Maharashtra (5 per cent). The remaining 12 per cent resources are<br />

distributed in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu,<br />

Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.<br />

Fire Clay<br />

<strong>India</strong> possesses substantial reserves of fireclay. The best deposits occur in<br />

association with the coal seams in the lower Gondwana coalfields of Andhra<br />

Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Neyveli lignite fields<br />

in Tamil Nadu. Notable occurrences of fireclay, not associated with coal<br />

measures, are reported in Gujarat, Jabalpur region of Madhya Pradesh and<br />

Belpahar-Sundergarh areas of Odisha. Reserves and resources of fireclay as per<br />

UNFC system of 2015 are estimated at 723 million tonnes. Out of the total<br />

resources, Odisha accounts for 24 per cent followed by Madhya Pradesh (18<br />

per cent), Tamil Nadu (16 per cent), Jharkhand (9 per cent) and Rajasthan and<br />

Gujarat (8 per cent each). Gradewise, refractory-plastic grade accounts for 37<br />

per cent followed by refractory-unspecified (14 per cent) and refractory-nonplastic/semi-plastic<br />

(16 per cent). The remaining 33 per cent are of others,<br />

unclassified and not known grades.<br />

Fluorspar<br />

As per the UNFC system, the total resources of fluorite in the country in 2015<br />

are estimated at 18.18 million tonnes. Out of these, 0.29 million tonnes are placed<br />

under reserves category. By states, Gujarat accounts for 66 per cent of the total<br />

resources having 12 million tonnes, followed by Rajasthan with 5.24 million
