National Aids Control Programme<br />

National AIDS Control Programme is a 100 per cent central sector scheme. More<br />

than 10 lakh people living with HIV are on ART; one lakh additional patients<br />

brought under the ambit of Anti Retro Viral (ARV) treatment in line with 'Test<br />

and Treat' Policy launched for covering all patients with ART cover irrespective<br />

of CD count or clinical stage.<br />

National Tobacco Control Programme<br />

In 2007- 08, the National Tobacco Control programme (NTCP) was launched in<br />

9 states covering 18 districts. Further, in 2008-09, the programme was up-scaled<br />

to cover 12 new states covering 24 districts. Currently the programme is under<br />

implementation in 29 states covering 53 districts.<br />

National Mental Health Programme<br />

National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) is being implemented to improve<br />

coverage and accessibility of mental health care in the country. For improving<br />

reach of mental healthcare, district level activities under it are being supported<br />

across all 36 states and UTs. Under it there is provision of regular psychiatric<br />

OPD and IPD services at district hospital, free supply of psychotropic drugs,<br />

ambulatory support for psychiatric patients, awareness generation activities<br />

on mental health in community and camps and outreach clinics in taluka<br />

hospitals/community health centres.<br />

National Programme for Healthcare of Elderly<br />

The basic aim of the (NPHCE) programme is to provide separate, specialized<br />

and comprehensive health care to the elderly people in the country.<br />

National Programme on Prevention and Management of Burn Injuries<br />

The objective of the programme is to reduce incidence, mortality, morbidity<br />

and disability due to burn Injuries, to improve awareness among the general<br />

masses and vulnerable groups especially the women, children, industrial and<br />

hazardous occupational workers and rehabilitation interventions.<br />

National Oral Health Programme<br />

The programme was initiated in 2014-15 with main objective to reduce the<br />

morbidity from oral diseases by strengthening the oral health care delivery in<br />

the existing public health facilities of the country. Support under the programme<br />

is provided to states for contractual appointment of dental surgeons, dental<br />

hygienists, dental assistants, procurement of dental equipment, renovation of<br />

the space for dental clinic and consumables required for treatment of dental<br />

diseases besides activities like awareness creation about oral diseases, capacity<br />

building by training the involved health personnel under the programme.
