Production Grant Scheme<br />

The Scheme covers all 'not-for-profit' organizations, NGOs, societies, trusts,<br />

universities and individual for supporting the seminars, conference, research,<br />

workshops, festivals, exhibitions, symposia, production of dance, drama-theatre,<br />

music etc., and small research projects on different aspects of <strong>India</strong>n culture.<br />

The Organization should have been functioning and registered under the<br />

Societies Registration Act (XXI of 1860), Trusts Act, Companies Act or any central<br />

or state Act for at least three years for individual applying for financial assistance<br />

under the scheme there is no such requirement. Grant is given upto ` 5.00 lakhs<br />

under the scheme.<br />

Tagore National Fellowship Scheme<br />

The scheme was introduced in order to invigorate and revitalise the various<br />

institutions under the Ministry of Culture and other identified cultural<br />

institutions in the country, by encouraging scholars/academicians to affiliate<br />

themselves with these institutions to work on projects of mutual interest. With<br />

a view to infuse fresh knowledge capital into the institutions, the scheme expects<br />

these scholars/academicians to select specific resources of the institutions to<br />

take up projects and research work that are related to the main objectives of<br />

these institutions and to enrich them with a new creative edge and academic<br />

excellence. The scheme is open to both <strong>India</strong>n nationals and foreign citizens.<br />

The proportion of foreigners will not normally exceed one-third of the total<br />

Fellowships awarded in a year. Tagore fellows are paid an honorarium ` 80,000/-<br />

p.m. plus contingencies and Tagore Scholars are paid ` 50,000/- p.m. as<br />

honorarium plus contingencies.<br />

Gandhi Heritage Sites Mission<br />

In April, 2006, Government of <strong>India</strong>, constituted a Gandhi Heritage Sites Panel<br />

headed by Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi and, with eminent Gandhians as members.<br />

Based on the recommendation of the Panel the "Gandhi Heritage Sites Mission"<br />

with a fixed term of 5 years was created in 2013 with a total budget outlay of<br />

` 42 crores. The period of Mission has been extended till March, 2020.<br />

The Mission's mandate is to preserve for posterity the 39 core sites as well<br />

as some important sites from the master list (consisting of 2000 sites visited by<br />

Mahtama Gandhi) and to supervise, guide and assist in conservation initiatives,<br />

maintenance or preservation initiatives and the creation of a database of tangible,<br />

literary and visual heritage associated with Gandhiji.<br />

Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti<br />

Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti was formed in 1984 by the merger of Gandhi<br />

Darshan at Rajghat and Gandhi Smriti, as an autonomous body, and is<br />

functioning under the financial support from the Ministry of Culture. The Prime<br />

Minister of <strong>India</strong> is its Chairperson and it has a nominated body of senior<br />

Gandhians and representatives of various government departments to guide it
