LAS PRÁCTICAS SIGNIFICANTES DE LOS VIEJOS Y SU RELACIÓN CON EL PROGRAMA…<br />
Abstr<strong>ac</strong>t<br />
The Second World Assembly on Ageing h<strong>el</strong>d in Madrid in 2002,<br />
emphasized the r<strong>el</strong>evance of Active Ageing as one of the most important<br />
strategies available in order to <strong>ac</strong>hieve a maximum lev<strong>el</strong> of health,<br />
w<strong>el</strong>fare, and life quality among the <strong>el</strong>derly, considering it to be an<br />
ess<strong>en</strong>tial <strong>el</strong>em<strong>en</strong>t for empowerm<strong>en</strong>t. In 2004 a research project was<br />
started at FES Zaragoza aimed at the dev<strong>el</strong>opm<strong>en</strong>t of gerontological<br />
promoters based on an Active Ageing appro<strong>ac</strong>h. The purpose was to<br />
move forward on the understanding of the repercussions of the<br />
significant pr<strong>ac</strong>tices of both the institutions and the social organizations<br />
on the significant pr<strong>ac</strong>tices of the <strong>el</strong>derly. Giv<strong>en</strong> the f<strong>ac</strong>t that the study<br />
is aimed to attaining a compreh<strong>en</strong>sive understanding of the subject<br />
matter, a case study was undertak<strong>en</strong> base on an interpretative and<br />
dialogical appro<strong>ac</strong>h in order to analyze subjective and objective aspects<br />
of ageing that allow the construction and contrast of differ<strong>en</strong>t<br />
expressions of such process. Pr<strong>el</strong>iminary results show that some<br />
promoters are experi<strong>en</strong>cing an empowerm<strong>en</strong>t process, evid<strong>en</strong>ced by an<br />
in<strong>cr</strong>easing fe<strong>el</strong>ing of s<strong>el</strong>f‐worth as individuals, assuming a position of<br />
responsibility and autonomy in the control of their lives, as w<strong>el</strong>l as on a<br />
perception of success, id<strong>en</strong>tity and membership, leading to a <strong>cr</strong>itical<br />
perspective of the <strong>el</strong>derly with regard to the role giv<strong>en</strong> to them by<br />
society<br />
Introducción<br />
E<br />
ste trabajo es <strong>el</strong> resultado parcial de una investig<strong>ac</strong>ión más<br />
amplia y vig<strong>en</strong>te <strong>en</strong> una zona de alta marginalidad <strong>en</strong> México.<br />
En este docum<strong>en</strong>to se pres<strong>en</strong>ta un análisis pr<strong>el</strong>iminar d<strong>el</strong> estudio<br />
que está llevando a cabo la Unidad de Investig<strong>ac</strong>ión <strong>en</strong> Gerontología<br />
(UIG) de la F<strong>ac</strong>ultad de Estudios Superiores Zaragoza (FESZ), Unam,<br />
<strong>en</strong> <strong>el</strong> Valle d<strong>el</strong> Mezquital, Estado de Hidalgo, con <strong>el</strong> fin de analizar las<br />
prácticas significantes de los viejos vinculadas al programa de <strong>en</strong>vejecimi<strong>en</strong>to<br />
<strong>ac</strong>tivo implem<strong>en</strong>tado por la FESZ.<br />
En seguida, se pres<strong>en</strong>tará <strong>el</strong> marco político d<strong>el</strong> <strong>Envejecimi<strong>en</strong>to</strong> Activo<br />
(EA), así como lo principios que lo sust<strong>en</strong>tan, además de una breve des<strong>cr</strong>ipción<br />
d<strong>el</strong> mod<strong>el</strong>o de at<strong>en</strong>ción que la FESZ ha desarrollado, d<strong>el</strong> cual emana <strong>el</strong><br />
Programa para la Form<strong>ac</strong>ión de Promotores para <strong>el</strong> Desarrollo Integral<br />
Gerontológico (PFPDIG). También se incluye de manera g<strong>en</strong>eral <strong>el</strong> sust<strong>en</strong>to<br />
teórico d<strong>el</strong> programa, sus objetivos y la metodología de trabajo y, finalm<strong>en</strong>te,<br />
se mostrarán los resultados y las repercusiones que este ha t<strong>en</strong>ido <strong>en</strong> las<br />
prácticas de los viejos d<strong>el</strong> Valle d<strong>el</strong> Mezquital.<br />
