Bengali cooking in English<br />
(learning by doing)<br />
Bengali food is little known in Germany.<br />
Most people associate it with the cuisine<br />
developed in Indian restaurants in the<br />
UK and believe it to be rather heavy and<br />
hot. However, authentic Bengali cuisine<br />
is healthy and light, relying on fresh vegetables<br />
and different types of lentils and<br />
herbs and subtle spicing, with any heat<br />
tailored to individual tastes. Many traditional<br />
dishes use fish rather than more<br />
familiar meats. It is also highly suited to<br />
nutritious vegetarian options as it uses<br />
a wide variety of pulses. Luckily, most of<br />
the key ingredients are readily available in<br />
Germany today. Please bring 2 dish cloth,<br />
2-3 store boxes to keep possible left-overs<br />
as well as your own drinks. Please pay the<br />
total costs for cooking ingredients of 18,-<br />
bis 21,- EUR (6,- bis 7,- EUR per person /<br />
evening) at the first lesson directly to your<br />
teacher. In this course you will have the<br />
opportunity to combine both to cook and<br />
to speak in a foreign language. The course<br />
is suitable for students who have command<br />
of the language on the level A2 - B1<br />
according to the European standard.<br />

Indian Cooking<br />
Indian cuisine has an extensive and varied<br />
repertoire, influenced by all the regions<br />
of this vast sub-continent. There is a lot<br />
more to Indian food than you can find in<br />
the average Indian restaurant over here. In<br />
our course you will learn how to prepare<br />
Tandoori chicken, meat in coconut milk,<br />
various vegetables cooked with seeds and<br />
spices, as well as different types of Pakoras<br />
and the famous Lassi drink. We will<br />
also explore fusion food by learning about<br />
the origin and preparation of Balti dishes.<br />
We will learn different cooking techniques<br />
and experience a variety of exciting tastes.<br />
Please pay the total costs for the ingredients<br />
of 16,- EUR (8,- EUR per person<br />
/ evening) at the first lesson directly to<br />
your teacher. Please bring 2 tea towels,<br />
2 or 3 storage boxes to keep any leftovers,<br />
and any drinks that you might wish<br />

English, giving you the opportunity to enhance<br />
your cooking and language skills at<br />

Salentine cuisine<br />
Salento is located in the south-eastern<br />
of Italy, a sub-region of Apulia where the<br />
wind and the waves have been shaping<br />
the "heel" of the Italian boot. Salentine<br />
dishes are characterized by a large range<br />
of genuine dishes based on seafood, complemented<br />
by sun-kissed local vegetables.<br />
In this course we are going to cook simple<br />
and delightful dishes from "seas & lands"<br />
which can be easily reproduced at home.<br />
