Aggregate direct consumptive use value
Converting household value to US$, the mean annual direct consumptive use value is US$287 ±
16.16 per capita; a daily value of US$0.79 ± 0.04. Applying a population growth rate of 2.76% in
2001/2-2005/6 (IMF 2007) and discounting the urban population for which assumptions about the
use of ecosystem goods and services cannot be made, the rural Eco-region population is estimated at
1,277,131. Aggregating the per capita value, the direct consumptive use value for ecosystem goods
and services across the Bale Mountains Eco-region population is US$366,439,518 per annum, a
substantial contribution to the local economy (Table 4).
