3.3.3.2 Adjectives and body part prefixes. Adjectives in FM Totonac are very frequently
derived with body part prefixes (BPP). In these forms the BPP often refers to an object other than
a body part, but similar to it in shape. For example, anything with a point at the top end, like a
pair of scissors, can be described with the BPP kinka- NOSE. While it is possible to say that
someone has long legs or a short neck in FM Totonac, it is far more likely that the corresponding
adjective plus BPP will be used.
