To summarize, dative –nii increases the valence <strong>of</strong> any verb to which it affixes by adding an<br />

(additional) object, <strong>of</strong>ten an animate beneficiary, beyond that licensed by the inherent transitivity<br />

<strong>of</strong> the verb. <strong>The</strong> object so added to the verb has the same object properties as the base object, <strong>and</strong><br />

is referenced by the expected object marker.<br />
