Hadīth of Hazrat ‘Alī ra and Lā Nabiyya Ba‘adī 113<br />

بدی the Mount. It is <strong>to</strong> be noted that the word<br />

[ba‘adī] here means ری [ghairī: besides me]. It<br />

does not mean after me in time. As we say that<br />

in:<br />

فَمَنْ‏ يهَّْدِيْهِ‏ ۢ مِنْ‏ بَعْدِ‏ ٰ اهللّ‏ ِ ؕ<br />

(Who, then, will guide him other than<br />

Allāh? 103 ). aاالله بد [ba‘d-Allāh] means other than<br />

Allāh.<br />

He further states in the same book:<br />

Here the word بدی [ba’adī] is not in the context<br />

of ازa بدت [after his time] because Hazrat<br />

Hārūn as did not outlive Hazrat Mūsā as . Hence,<br />

the implied conclusion was not for a period<br />

after the Holy Prophet sa for Hazrat ‘Alī ra . As a<br />

result, there was no reason <strong>to</strong> make the<br />

exception of a period after the Holy Prophet sa<br />

for Hazrat ‘Alī ra .<br />

Farhan Khan is more than welcome <strong>to</strong> disagree with the<br />

reformer of the 12 th century. It is up <strong>to</strong> him. The argument given<br />

by Hazrat Shāh Waliullāh Mohaddes Dehlavī is irrefutable. The<br />

word ba‘ad can only mean beside in this context because Hazrat<br />

Hārun as died during the lifetime of Hazrat Mūsā as and was a<br />

prophet beside him, as his helper. The Holy Prophet<br />

<strong>Muhammad</strong> sa only stated that there is no prophet beside him, as<br />

his helper. The Ahmadiyya Muslim understanding is always<br />
