Statements of Hazrat Muhy-ud-dīn Ibn ‘Arabī rh 177<br />

This verse shows that he will be instructed through<br />

the spiritual power of the Holy Prophet sa , and will, in<br />

this sense, be one of the companions. This verse is<br />

further explained by the hadīth:<br />

وaانaالاانaاaباثر اaاہaرجلaنaارس‎183‎<br />

Here the quality which was particularized in the<br />

Promised Messiah and Mahdī has been attributed <strong>to</strong><br />

this man from Persia. This quality is <strong>to</strong> replenish the<br />

earth with justice after it has been filled with<br />

wrongdoing and has become empty of faith and the<br />

belief in the Unity of God. Thus, this man is the<br />

Promised Messiah and Mahdī; and I am he.<br />

Just as the prophesied eclipse of the sun and the<br />

moon in the month of Ramadān has not occurred<br />

during the time of any other person claiming <strong>to</strong> be<br />

Mahdi, likewise, during the thirteen hundred years<br />

that have elapsed since the time of the Holy<br />

Prophet sa , no one has claimed, on the basis of divine<br />

revelation, <strong>to</strong> be ‘the Man of Persia’ about whom the<br />

hadīth says that he will bring faith down from<br />

heaven. 184<br />

To clarify this issue further, the Promised Messiah as explains the<br />

grammatical structure of the related verses <strong>to</strong> prove the<br />

soundness of his commentary in the following quotation:<br />

Had faith ascended <strong>to</strong> the Pleiades, it would be brought down by aman<br />

from among the Persians. [Publisher]<br />
